2015 was a very hard year for me. Some of my closest friendships were changing as some had moved and others had faded. I ended a relationship of 4 years. Even my work life was in flux. It was to the point that I didn’t know if I could make it through, but luckily, I found the old adage, “when we hit our lowest point, we are open to the greatest change” to be true. I moved into my own place for the first time since college, made strides in my career, and had my first solo adventure across New Zealand. When I reflected on this crazy time of my life, I was able to summarize the experience in one word: resilient. This word reminds me that I can survive life-changing disturbances and even grow and thrive in the face of them. I am resilient. Also, shoutout to @stewystixtattoos for another amazing and personal piece. https://instagr.am/p/CdmrxNjL2ku/
I wanted to put in some caption about which direction to take, but in reality, I don’t really know where I’m going. I’m still at a place in my mental health journey where I’m taking some things one step at a time, slowly discovering who I am and what I want/need. I’ll decide on a direction for my future when I’m ready, I’m choosing to put myself first. https://instagr.am/p/CcvUUrYr2sx/
🍃😮💨 Sometimes you gotta take a break to take care of yourself. Finding worth in yourself (rather than relying on external validation) is key to finding peace and stability. Love yourself, you’re worth it. 🧡✨ https://instagr.am/p/CcOLNhXPIig/

🍚 Fried rice is a staple in both Filipino & Chamorro cuisines. I cook varieties of this dish regularly and feel especially connected to my Lola when I make her garlic fried rice. I’m thrilled to have this permanent reminder of my heritage, my love of cooking, and my Lola… but also, it’s a sick ass design. https://instagr.am/p/CZ-ps6UpM2_/
